The Valdez City School District Board approved a series of routine and advocacy items by voice vote.
The consent agenda was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote (clerk reported six yays). Later, the board voted 6–0 to approve a resolution supporting House Bill 78, which would restore an option for a defined-benefit retirement plan; Superintendent Jason Weber told the board he believes the change would improve the district's ability to hire and retain teachers. The motion on the resolution was moved by Scott and seconded by Carrie, and the clerk recorded six yays.
The board also approved the classified handbook for FY27, a consolidation of district policies and procedures intended to help classified employees understand job expectations. The handbook motion was moved by Carrie, seconded by Brian, and passed by a voice vote (six yays).
No public comment was offered during the votes, and the board moved on to other business and budget discussion.
