"We laid out a preliminary schedule over the next 12 to 16 months, culminating with at least right now, preliminarily a plan of a referendum in the 2027," Superintendent Shane said. He said the district will gather data, hold community engagement and bring options to the board before any formal submission to the state.
Shane also announced board approval of a notice of assignment for Kate Hagerman as the incoming high‑school principal; Shane said Hagerman was unable to attend the meeting because she was ill but will officially join on July 1, 2026. The superintendent introduced Scott Lesage as the new director of finance and operations and said Lesage will begin May 4 with a front‑loaded transition period with outgoing staff.
Scott Lesage addressed the board, saying he is "extremely excited about this opportunity" and expressing gratitude to district staff and leadership. Shane characterized the onboarding as an extensive process with a critical first 100 days for Hagerman and planned transition meetings between current and incoming leadership.
No formal action beyond previously announced personnel approvals was required at the meeting for the referendum planning; Shane said the timeline is preliminary and further board review and public engagement will follow.
