Public Works Director Hampton told the council that formal acceptance of the Bogachiel Way Paver project was required to close out the contract. Council Member Wood moved and Council Member Soha seconded a motion to approve final acceptance and to authorize staff to complete project closeout and to release final payment and retainage in accordance with Washington State law. The motion carried.
The authorization allows staff to finish contractual closeout activities and to process retention and final payment consistent with state retainage rules; the transcript records the council's approval but does not list the contract amount in the meeting minutes. Public Works Director Hampton also reported separately that WesTech was unable to reproduce a reported fault with the new clarifier and will continue diagnostics, and that the department has hired a new employee and selected another candidate to fill the remaining vacancy.
