The Jurupa Valley City Council on Tuesday reviewed four potential logo designs and directed staff and the city’s consultant to refine two options they said best reflect the city’s identity.
Consultant Brian (Rival) summarized community outreach and survey results, saying more than 700 people responded and that two concepts — a rising‑sun emblem and a wagon‑wheel motif — emerged as the most popular. City staff emphasized that the city seal will remain the official mark for legal documents and that the logo is intended for branding, signage and promotional use.
Brian described tweaks made since an earlier study session: muted, earth‑tone color palettes, updated typography, and vertical and horizontal configurations for varied uses. He said the fourth concept draws on the city’s original name meaning ("valley of the sagebrush") and uses a stylized sage illustration.
Council members and the mayor offered detailed feedback on legibility, color balance and the wagon‑wheel’s detailing. Several asked for additional iterations showing how each logo would appear in black‑and‑white, on signage, and separated from wordmark text. Council members said they favored a route that keeps the logo familiar while making it usable across uniforms, signs and digital platforms.
Staff said the next step will be to present more iterations of the two preferred concepts for further council review and community outreach.
The study session portion of the meeting adjourned to permit the regular council meeting to begin at 7 p.m.
