Scott Kelly moved and Merle Regenold seconded to accept the $800 bid from General American Lawn Care over a higher $2,000 bid from Schofield Services; the motion carried 5-0. Street Commissioner Jeff Stephens requested acceptance of a street project and permission to advertise for bids on a planned 40-block asphalt overlay; Councilmember Brandon Williams made the motion, Mayor Pro Tem Merle Regenold seconded, and the motion carried 5-0.
In a separate motion, the council voted to assess mowing costs of $300 to four properties and collect those charges as property taxes; that motion passed 5-0. Council also referred alley-closing requests to the Planning & Zoning Commission for consideration.
Why it matters: Approving the street project and initiating the bid process are early steps toward capital work that could affect traffic, pavement conditions and budgets. The mowing assessments recover city costs and add a property tax lien mechanism for nuisance abatement.
