Saratoga County officials and representatives from state and federal offices gathered in March 2026 to honor Donald J. “Pup” Daly, a Mechanicsville native and U.S. Navy Seabee who served in the Pacific during World War II.
Frank McClemon, director of the Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency, opened the monthly Honorably Deceased Veterans ceremony and delivered a biographical summary of Daly’s life and service, saying the county’s program "is the highest honor our Saratoga County Board of Supervisors bestows upon a veteran." McClemon said Daly was born Jan. 17, 1927, entered the Navy on Jan. 9, 1945, trained at the Naval Construction Training Center in Davisville, R.I., and served with Naval Construction (Seabee) units in the Pacific.
