Jurupa Valley council hears community program updates and monthly sheriff statistics

At its Nov. 7 meeting, the Jurupa Valley City Council heard several community and public‑safety updates.
Riverside County Department of Animal Services introduced ‘Roxanne,’ a 5‑year‑old adoptable dog and promoted upcoming fee‑waived adoption events. ReachOut presented the Healthy Jurupa Valley quarterly update; Myra Mexico Chavez, the new director of community health, equity and wellness, said the program’s outreach from April to October included seven major events and that ‘‘we reach a total of 1,610 residents and partners.’’
Chamber President Don Malloy reported business engagement and membership growth: “we've added 41 new memberships this year alone,” he said, and previewed Chamber plans for 2025. City Manager Butler reminded the council about the Nov. 9 Veterans Day parade and tree‑lighting on Dec. 4, and said Measure CC (an RCCD bond that includes $180 million for the Trade Tech Center) was tracking roughly a percentage point above the 55% threshold.
The sheriff’s representative gave September statistics including vehicle thefts and recoveries and described recent enforcement activity. Staff said future updates will include data tied to the retail theft grant and Flock camera program.
Council thanked presenters and moved to the consent and public hearing items.
