The city council approved resolutions to form a Public Safety Community Facilities District for the Mission Village commercial development at the corner of Mission Boulevard and Staub Way and to levy special taxes on the property owners to fund future police and fire services.
Staff described the project as a commercial development of seven buildings totaling about 75,000 square feet and explained the CFD will collect assessments from property owners to pay for safety services as the area builds out. The council opened and closed the public hearing with no public speakers and then adopted the resolutions and introduced an ordinance to authorize levies for 2025.
The process includes subsequent ballots to property owners and an ordinance implementation step; staff said the next steps will be tabulation of ballots and the formal ordinance adoption. Council members approved the item by voice vote.
