Lewis County commissioners approve road-closure notices, FEMA grant, surplus equipment, labor agreement and preliminary plat

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners on March 24 approved several administrative and deliberative items in a single action, including temporary road-closure notices, a surplus-equipment declaration, a FEMA grant acceptance, LEPC appointments, labor agreements, and a preliminary plat condition.
County Engineer Wes Anderson presented two notices: a temporary closure of Coontz Road at milepost 1.96–2.02 from March 30 through June 30 to allow WSDOT to repair the Coontz/Koons Road overpass over I‑5, and a Mead Hill Road closure from milepost 0.77–0.81 from April 6 through July 31 to complete a FEMA slide-repair project. The chair asked communications staff to prepare social-media posts after the meeting.
Ross Nielsen, the county assessor, announced a public hearing on open-space land designation (parcels 014731009004 and 014731009006) scheduled for April 7 at 10:00 a.m.
Wes Anderson also presented resolution 26-097 declaring a nuclear moisture-density gauge surplus (equipment past useful life, depreciated to $0) and noted disposal would follow Washington Administrative Code and Washington Department of Health radiation regulations.
Erica Cat of Emergency Management presented resolution 26-098 to accept a FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) from the Washington State Military Department for $39,543, covering 06/01/2025–09/30/2026, to fund equipment, training, preparedness and educational materials. She also presented resolution 26-099 to appoint members to the Lewis County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) to satisfy EPCRA and WAC requirements.
Angie Hodge, HR director, presented resolutions 26-100 through 26-103 to approve a master labor collective bargaining agreement covering four bargaining units, three appendices applying to three of those units, and a memorandum of understanding for radio services.
Mindy Brooks presented approval of the preliminary plat for the Salishan subdivision in the Centralia urban growth area (resolution 26-004) with the specific condition that the county will not approve the final plat prior to annexation.
Each of the deliberation items and notices was approved by voice vote; the chair announced motions carried 3–0.
