Coach and Todd County School Board honor wrestlers after strong season

Michelle Allen, chair of the Todd County School Board, opened the meeting by welcoming attendees and recognizing staff accomplishments before inviting the wrestling coach to update the board on the season.
The coach summarized the year as a success despite attrition, saying, “We had a really good season. We started off at 31 girls in the roster. We finished with 18 active,” and noting injuries and moves reduced the roster. The coach added the team benefited from a co-op with a neighboring program and said several wrestlers advanced into postseason competition.
The board recognized four regional qualifiers — two eighth graders and two seniors — and acknowledged individual achievements, naming state qualifiers Maya Martinez and Carter Brady. The coach also said one wrestler returned from the state tournament with a third-place finish.
Chair Michelle Allen invited the team and coach to pose for a photograph with the board and thanked parents and community members for their support, saying the community’s involvement is critical to sustaining extracurricular programs. The board also noted the program’s continued influx of younger athletes as a sign of future depth.
Looking ahead, the board encouraged continued community support and congratulated coaches and students for representing Todd County in regional and state competition.
