Upland council adjourns in memory of Detective Caitlin Teague

The Upland City Council adjourned its meeting in memory of Upland Police Detective Caitlin Teague, who passed away suddenly on Nov. 24.
Mayor Velto recounted Detective Teague’s background, noting she earned a master’s degree in public administration, worked as a social worker before joining law enforcement in December 2014, served as a field training officer and later as the school resource officer, and was promoted to detective in July 2022 where she worked on property crimes and crimes against children and elders. The mayor also described additional duties Teague carried out, including roles on the crisis negotiation team and training officers in first aid, CPR and Narcan use.
The mayor asked the council and public to keep Detective Teague’s family in their thoughts and called for a moment of silence before adjourning the meeting.
The adjournment was explicitly in memory of Detective Teague; the council took no additional action tied to the memorial during the meeting.
