The El Cajon City Council approved a request to amend the contract for the citywide street beautification project to increase compensation to the current contractor (Eco Paving) by up to $1,200,000, citing increases in scope where some areas required full overlay rather than spot repairs.
Olga Reyes, city traffic engineer, said the work runs from the northern to southern city limits along 2nd Street and Hamishow Road and includes plantings and spot-to-overlay scope changes; staff asked to appropriate additional ARPA and TransNet funds to cover the increase. Councilmembers welcomed Reyes on her first presentation and had no substantive questions. The motion to approve the amendment carried by unanimous vote. No public speakers were present.
