Carlsbad Library Board approves FY2023–24 state survey after staff report shows funding dip and circulation milestone

The Carlsbad Library Board of Trustees voted unanimously Oct. 23 to receive and approve the city’s fiscal year 2023–24 California Public Library Survey for submission to the California State Library.
Management Analyst Debbie Jo McCool told trustees the survey is used by the state to support research and to determine eligibility for some state and federal grants. McCool said the city’s general fund provided about $11,870,000 (95.7%) of library funding for the reporting period, special revenue contributed roughly $463,000 (3.7%), and state grant funds totaled $73,505 (0.06%).
