The Chino Hills City Council approved an ordinance Nov. 26 to limit public access to city-owned and city-controlled government center properties overnight, closing the grounds between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Assistant City Manager Rod Hill said the proposal covers City Hall, the police station, library, the parking structure’s adjacent lot and other parcels within the Government Center Complex, and aligns those closure hours with existing parking-structure regulations. He specified that the Chino Valley Fire Administration building and the post office were excluded because they are not city-controlled properties.
Councilmembers raised enforcement questions for businesses that operate late at night and use the parking structure. Hill said staff would coordinate with the police department on enforcement discretion and return with revisions if necessary.
Council voted unanimously, 5–0, to introduce and adopt the closure ordinance at the meeting. Hill said the measure will help the police department address after-hours concerns within the Government Center Complex.
