Council proclaims Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, recognizes community leaders and Little League anniversary

Council President Pro Tem Lee introduced the proclamations and thanked the City Attorney's Office and community partners for work on prevention and support services. City Attorney Heather Ferber described the Family Justice Center/Your Safe Place and noted it serves more than 1,000 clients a month, provides safety planning and confidential services, and partners with San Diego Unified School District on youth outreach.
Multiple remote public commenters addressed the proclamation for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Several praised Your Safe Place and prevention efforts; other remote speakers used public comment to raise broad allegations about unrelated agencies and individuals. Council limited public-comment time for the proclamation portion and proceeded to vote.
Councilmembers also presented a proclamation declaring a day for Cecilia Moreno, recognizing decades of volunteer leadership in Hillcrest and local business contributions. The chamber paused for photos before moving on to the consent agenda.
Outcome: Proclamations for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and Mira Mesa Little League's 50th anniversary were adopted in a unanimous vote (6-0) with several council members absent.
