The council unanimously approved staff recommendations to vacate an approximately 7,500‑square‑foot landscaped parcel and accept dedication of about 2,500 square feet of property from the Grossmont Union High School District at the entrance to Grossmont High School, 1100 Murray Drive.
City Engineer Mario Sanchez explained the request was initiated by the school district to permit the district to fully control the landscaped area while ensuring the city retains maintenance of utility facilities and traffic signal infrastructure that remain in place. Sanchez said the blue area on the survey is the recommended vacated landscape (about 7,500 sq ft) and the red‑hatched intersection area to be dedicated is about 2,500 sq ft.
Staff said the action is consistent with the city’s general plan and identified no fiscal impact; council adopted resolutions to open and close the public hearing and then approved the vacation and dedication by unanimous vote.
