West Noble board approves routine consent items, middle-school golf ECA and hears staffing and workers' compensation updates

The West Noble School Corporation board approved routine consent and personnel agendas, established a middle-school golf extracurricular account (ECA) and heard administrative updates on staffing and workers' compensation during the meeting.

The board approved the consent agenda and personnel recommendations by voice vote after brief discussion. On individual action items, trustees approved establishing a middle-school golf ECA so the program can track concessions and fundraising revenue separately. The board discussed making similar routine ECA additions part of the consent agenda in the future.

During the superintendent's staffing update, he said district leaders had anticipated several reductions in force but that additional retirements and resignations have reduced the need for immediate notices. "The law is May 1 when we have to do reduction in force notices for our certified staff," he said, and added he planned to continue conversations through April and avoid issuing notices before spring break.

Andrew (business manager) briefed the board on Apogee/Thrillshare hosting costs for the district website and mobile app and walked trustees through Delta T service charges (boiler servicing, water-heater repair and kitchen-exhaust motor replacement). He also reviewed workers' compensation billing: the district's renewal was about $60,391 with quarterly installments; an additional premium adjustment this cycle added roughly $7,000, and claims in recent years included approximately $21,000 and a prior $47,000 payout.

Board members asked for more detailed claims data and said they'd like the Accident Fund assessor to return for additional campus safety review. One trustee asked staff to focus on gym and bleacher areas as a possible risk area for spectator falls.

The meeting closed after brief community and event announcements and a motion to adjourn that passed by voice vote.
