Exeter students describe hands-on experience at BCTC health and media programs

Two Exeter Township Senior High School students who attend the Burke Career & Technology Center told the board on March 17 that career-technical programs give them hands-on skills and career clarity.
Carly Hatchman, a junior in the BCTC health occupations program, said the program has provided patient-care experience and helped her earn CPR and first-aid certifications. "These experiences are building my confidence and giving me a strong foundation before I even go to college," Hatchman said.
Kayla Shade, an 11th grader in BCTC's video and media production program, described access to professional equipment and recent student projects, including a suicide-prevention public-service announcement. She said the work helped students learn production skills and amplify mental-health messaging.
Superintendent Haller and other trustees thanked the students and praised BCTC for workforce and STEM pathways; trustees also noted other BCTC projects, including mechatronics work tied to NASA projects mentioned later in the meeting.
