Summary
The Select Board voted 5-0 to grant waivers of foreclosure for six 2024 property tax liens while retaining town liens, accepted $725 in donations for Founders Park Community Center, and received routine staff reports including harbor and beach updates.
The Select Board voted unanimously to grant waivers of foreclosure on six 2024 property tax liens, as amended by the finance director, retaining the town’s lien on the properties rather than pursuing foreclosure. Staff described the move as a way to preserve the town’s lien while avoiding potential liabilities such as back lot rent, condo fees or insurance costs that foreclosure might create.
At the meeting the board also accepted several donations totaling $725 for the Founders Park Community Center from multiple donors and voted to send letters of thanks to those contributors.
During the staff‑reports portion of the agenda town staff summarized operational updates: about 2,000 transfer station permits and over 2,000 multiuse stickers had been sold by mid‑March; sewer‑line repairs were complete and Clam Flats would be open March 27–30; Harbor Pier expansion bids would be opened on Thursday, March 18 at 2 PM in the meeting room; motor‑vehicle safety training and other departmental training events were planned for the summer; and the police department would host accreditation reviewers later in the week.
A public commenter, who identified herself as Nina Shopoulos, told the board she had circulated signatures and information related to an ordinance slated for the June 9 ballot and had provided materials to the town manager. The board later moved into executive session to discuss applicants to various boards and committees pursuant to 1 M.R.S. subsection 405(6)(A).
The waivers and donation acceptances were approved by voice votes recorded as 5‑0.
