City staff updates Nedcon site, Miramar Trail and two hotel projects

City planning staff updated the committee on a set of development projects. "They had plans of next week starting, hopefully, their construction and the foundation work at the site," staff said of the Nedcon project, but added contractors were waiting on site mowing and several nesting-bird surveys required because of ecological sensitivity.
Staff said the Miramar Trail connection (including a permanent bridge over Zinfar Creek) remains in planning and will require additional environmental work. On hotels, the Hotel Sebastopol has a development-agreement extension that preserves permit life for three more years while it secures funding; the Barlow Hotel has submitted an application and asked to include public-art fee payment and to bypass the Design Review Board through a development agreement, which staff described as a request to save time and costs.
Committee members asked about public input opportunities; staff reiterated the projects will go through the planning commission and city council and that public hearings are expected. Several smaller development updates were given, including the Woodmark SB 35 project (near Nelson) and Huntley Square studio units, with anticipated construction or grading in the near term.
