Council introduces floodplain-code updates to maintain eligibility for federal flood programs

City counsel/staff described the changes as largely technical: updated references to FEMA mapping and tools, revised definitions to match state and federal terminology, and a handful of cross-reference fixes. Staff said the map updates will take effect later in the year and the city must have conforming regulations in place; failure to do so could affect property owners in flood hazard areas and eligibility for federal loans or grants.
The council introduced the ordinance for first reading and the motion passed 5–0.
