City secures CalRecycle funds to support local food recovery organizations

The city manager credited staff and partners for securing the award and said the equipment will support food‑recovery operations: Sanctuary Church and the 29 Palms Food Pantry each received two freezers and one refrigerator, and the senior center is scheduled to receive a freezer and refrigerator next week. The units will allow registered food‑recovery organizations to accept and redistribute perishable donations from grocery stores and other sources, the city manager said.
Council thanked staff for the grant work and the public‑works crew for delivery and installation coordination.
