Board sets public hearing on Vaco Investments rezoning at Lenham Road and Route 60

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors voted to set a public hearing on a rezoning request from Vaco Investments for a parcel at the corner of Lenham Road and Route 60.

Planning director Stephanie Johnson told the board the rezoning petition has been before the board previously and that staff requests the item be set for public hearing at the next regular meeting. "This request to set has been brought before you again this evening to be set for public hearing at your next regular meeting," Johnson said. The board moved and voted to set the rezoning for public hearing.

Johnson also provided the monthly planning update: four currently active CEPs, one rezoning and one conditional use permit scheduled to go before the planning commission (an application for Osborne Carter), three subdivisions approved and 50 pending, two site plans approved and 38 pending, and a list of active commercial permits including two solar facilities on Cumberland Road South, a poultry litter shed, a poultry facility and the Antill Wetland Mitigation project on Antill Road. She described the Davenport Road major subdivision as requiring private road installation, a road bond and planning commission review before final plat approval.

The board did not take final action on the rezoning at this meeting; the public hearing will allow public comment before any final vote by the board.
