Interboro Board adopts district comprehensive plan, approves retirements and teacher MOU

The Interboro School District Board of School Directors voted on March 18 to adopt its district comprehensive plan — including induction and gifted-education assurances — for the 2026–29 planning period.

Board members thanked district staff for producing the plan. “I just want to thank Dr. Ekman and her team for all the work that they do for this comprehensive plan,” the presiding speaker said during the discussion before the motion passed.

Also on the agenda, the board accepted multiple retirements (motions 11.01–11.05) and approved a retirement-notice allowance memorandum of understanding between the teachers’ association and the district intended to improve budgeting and early planning for staffing changes. The presiding officer said the agreement “helps us with budgeting to see who’s retiring earlier.” The motion carried on roll call.

Separately, the board approved a separation agreement with an employee referred to as Ella (Motion 17) and offered public congratulations to Mr. Googan on his appointment to a principal position starting July 1.

The board closed the meeting with routine announcements, including committee meeting dates, calendar updates for the 2026–27 school year (district start after Labor Day), and the upcoming public meeting on April 15 at the administration building.

The comprehensive plan and the MOU will be available on the district website for public review, and committee meetings to follow will address implementation and budgetary implications related to the plan and staffing changes.
