The Stockton City Council on Sept. 17 approved a $7.3 million construction contract for the long‑planned Victory Park Pool, a project council members described as a neighborhood priority.
Council Member Lens, who moved the item, and city staff said the contract was awarded to a contractor from a prequalified bidders list (CWS). City staff told the council they expect about 45 days to execute the contract and begin construction, and said their goal is to deliver the pool in 2025 if weather and scheduling allow.
"With your approval tonight, we're probably looking at about 45 days to execute the contract, begin construction, and our goal is to deliver it in 2025," a city staff representative said. Several council members praised the project as a community amenity and voiced support before the item passed 7‑0.
The contract authorizes the city to move from planning to construction; staff said more precise scheduling and site work details will be shared as the project enters procurement and mobilization phases.
