City manager signals red-light camera pilot for Pershing Avenue after resident safety complaints

A Stockton resident told the City Council on Dec. 10 that dangerous speeding and recent collisions on Pershing Avenue need city action. Dan Richardson said he provided video to the council and reported two recent crashes at the Acacia–Pershing intersection.
"It's not getting resolved. It needs attention," Richardson told the council. He also questioned whether officers assigned had training in speed detection.
City Manager Harry Black responded during the city manager update that staff, together with the police department, is preparing an agenda package for the first quarter of next year to consider a red-light camera pilot program and that Pershing Avenue would be on the list.
The exchange came ahead of council debate on other items. No action was taken on a camera pilot at the meeting; staff said a formal agenda item and package will come to the council for consideration in the coming quarter.
