Wiregrass Museum of Art named Youth Art Month partner; 11 local students singled out

The Dothan City Commission proclaimed March 2026 Youth Art Month in support of the Wiregrass Museum of Art’s student exhibition.
Janine Wise, the museum’s school programs coordinator, told the commission the museum received 894 submissions from more than 40 schools and organizations across eight counties and accepted 161 works for exhibition. Wise highlighted the museum’s long-running youth program and said the display spans pre-K through 12th grade across multiple mediums.
Wise named several award winners and where their award pieces will be displayed, including Best in Show and other sponsor awards. She thanked sponsors including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Dothan Pediatric Dentistry, and Publix Supermarket Charities and invited the community to visit the museum during March.
The commission approved the proclamation by voice vote during the proclamations portion of the meeting.
