Commissioners approve job coach advertisement, authorize loan-signing agents and award surplus-auction contract

At the March 24 meeting, the Knox County Board of Commissioners approved several routine business items by voice vote.
The board moved to approve an advertisement for public notice for Knox County Department of Job and Family Services summer job coach positions; the motion passed on a voice vote.
Commissioners also approved a resolution authorizing the county administrator and the director of Knox County Water Wastewater to act as signing agents for Ohio Water Development Authority (OWDA) loan applications. The resolution covers existing applications the county has already prepared, including one for the administrative building and one for the Well No. 7 project.
Separately, the board approved a contract with Jaeger Auctioneers for the Knox County EngineerOffice to auction surplus equipment.
In other business, county staff provided an update on a crosswalk improvement project coordinated with the city of Mount Vernon. The county will pay for sidewalk portions adjacent to county facilities and the city will bid and pave the larger project; the countywill add flashing beacons at pedestrian crossings and remove a long crosswalk in front of the courthouse to reduce driver confusion, a county official said.
All three formal items were approved on voice votes. The meeting then moved toward adjournment and the chair closed the session after final comments.
