Adam Beck of the Utah County Attorney's Office presented an item concerning Keeneland Park LLC and a $73.89 penalty assessed after a property purchase complication. Beck said staff had originally recommended denial but noted the commission has authority to abate the tax penalty if it decided that was in the county's best interest.
Beck summarized the file and said the notice may have been sent to a previous owner and that documentation made it hard to determine whether a county error occurred. "It was a $73.89 penalty," Beck said.
Commissioners discussed the record and, finding grounds to abate given the circumstances of the property transition, approved changing the recommendation from denial to abatement. Commissioner Gordon moved to approve the abatement and the motion passed on a voice vote.
