The Henderson City Council on Thursday adopted Resolution 4666, a formal censure of Councilwoman Carrie Cox, after the city attorney summarized findings from a 10-month Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigation and council members voted to approve the measure.
Mayor Romero opened the special meeting by explaining the public-comment process and asking City Clerk Valdez to confirm posting. City Attorney Nick Vascoff then described the resolution as a formal statement of disapproval based on an indictment, an attached police report and other alleged conduct ‘‘inconsistent with the governance policy, the city charter, the Henderson Municipal Code, and the Nevada Ethics and Government Act,’’ and said a censure may be issued without formal adjudication. "Because censure is simply a formal statement of disapproval, the underlying conduct need not be proven," Vascoff said.
