CCSD Region 3 official says Henderson schools are outperforming district averages

A Clark County School District Region 3 representative told the Henderson City Council that Henderson schools continue to perform above the district average in many measures and are showing steady academic gains.
"Henderson continues to perform above the district average in nearly all tested areas," Zamira Romero said while presenting the Region 3 quarterly report. She said 80.5% of Henderson schools are rated three stars or higher on the Nevada School Performance Framework, 44.4% are rated four or five stars, and 18.4% earned five-star distinctions.
Romero highlighted improvements in English language arts and mathematics across grade bands, including a rise in third-grade ELA proficiency from 53.4% to 57.1% and gains in middle school and high school measures. She said some groups continue to lag: students with disabilities and English language learners remain areas of focused intervention.
The superintendent's representative listed school-level highlights, including a 97% graduation rate at Basic Academy and multiple schools improving star ratings and program offerings. Council members thanked the district and asked the presenter to return with more detail on programs that could be scaled or aligned with city efforts, including before- and after-school programming and career pipeline partnerships.
The presentation did not include a formal council vote; it was provided as information to the council.
