Chattahoochee County sets qualifying fees for 2026 local elections

The Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 26 approved qualifying fees for the 2026 local elections, setting the fee for county commission candidates at $362 and for county board of education candidates at $72.
Chairman Charles Coffey read the fees during a called meeting and Commissioner Jason Frost moved to approve them; Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded and the vote was unanimous. Qualifying is scheduled to open Monday, March 2 at 9 a.m. and close Friday, March 6 at noon.
The board adopted the fees under the requirements of O.C.G.A. § 21-2-131, which requires counties to fix and publish qualifying fees no later than Feb. 1 in years with a primary or election. County Clerk Lisa Bickel was directed to publish the qualifying-fee schedule in accordance with state law.
The commission handled the qualifying-fee vote as part of a called meeting that immediately continued into a scheduled work session; the board also discussed a range of agenda items in the work session, including department updates and grant procurement.
