Henderson redevelopment agency approves $2.4 million for Fire Station 84 remodel

The City of Henderson Redevelopment Agency voted to approve a $2,400,000 funding agreement to help remodel Fire Station 84, agency staff said.

Anthony Malloy, director of redevelopment, told the board the agenda incorrectly listed the project’s total construction cost as about $18,400,000 and that the correct total is $12,000,000. "The correct total is 12,000,000, and a memo was provided to the file," Malloy said. He said the agency’s contribution would be paid from tax-increment revenue generated within the Cornerstone Redevelopment Area.

Malloy said the contract is consistent with state law, citing Nevada Revised Statutes, and that staff determined the project would provide a direct benefit to the Cornerstone Redevelopment Area and to residents and businesses in the area. "The proposed $2,400,000 allocation will be funded through tax increment revenue generated from within the Cornerstone Redevelopment Area," he said.

Board members moved and voted on the item without further public comment. The motion to approve the funding agreement was made by member Larson and carried; staff recorded that "all members voted in favor" (the transcript does not specify individual tallies). The agenda and minutes were approved earlier in the meeting by unanimous vote.

There were two public comment periods (one at the start for agenda items and one at the end for general comment); staff reported no speakers in either queue during this meeting.
