The Lexington Fayette Urban County Council used its Jan. 13 work session to approve routine business and refer several items to committee.
Council approved the docket as amended, which included placement of a rezoning item (agenda item 16236) under ordinances for first reading covering roughly 65.6969 net acres and 73.72 gross acres at properties on Canebrake Drive. The council also approved the Dec. 2 work session motions and accepted budget amendments and information-only budget adjustments presented at the meeting. Votes reported in the transcript were by voice and recorded as "aye" with no roll-call tallies provided in the work-session record.
The council approved mayoral appointments and procurements and recorded a recusal by Councilmember Savigny on a library-board vote because his wife serves on that board. Councilmember Beasley moved to place a meeting-confer matter with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) into the Environmental Quality & Public Works committee to review legality and workforce-condition terms, which passed by voice vote. Councilmember Morton moved a code revision requiring documentation of right-of-way conditions before and after utility work to protect restoration outcomes; that update was referred to the EQ&PW committee. The housing rehabilitation program was placed into the Budget, Finance & Economic Development committee for internal-policy tightening.
Several council members offered routine reports and community announcements including neighborhood events, a laptop-distribution program, an expungement clinic on Feb. 19, and the LIFT youth conference on March 7. No public commenters signed up for either on- or off-agenda public comment and the council adjourned.
