The Strafford County Commission voted unanimously March 31 to accept a victim's crime grant of $75,714 for the Child Advocacy Center.
A representative of the Child Advocacy Center told commissioners the grant is essentially level funding this year after a competitive process and is intended to support direct service and staffing costs. "This funding is mostly related to direct service and staffing costs," the presenter said, and staff time funded by the grant includes the family support specialist position and part of the forensic interview position.
The presenter supplied caseload data to illustrate continued need: the center handled 233 cases in 2025 and the family support specialist conducted 525 caregiver follow-ups last year, which the presenter described as important for keeping families connected throughout the life of a case.
Commissioners moved and adopted the acceptance by voice vote; the chair noted paperwork would be signed in the administrative section and that the center should file required documentation as directed. The acceptance was recorded as unanimous.
The commission’s acceptance keeps funding that covers front-line staff in place; the presenter thanked county staff for assistance completing paperwork.
