Commissioners approve replat, fuel bid specs and set outgoing officials’ spending limits

Cooke County commissioners used a series of motions to clear routine items on Monday’s agenda.
The court approved a replat that divides an approximately 5-acre Lot 1 in Butler Subdivision (Precinct 1) into two lots after staff confirmed the plat met requirements. Commissioners also approved the county’s gasoline and diesel bid specifications for advertisement, saying the specs mirrored prior years’ documents. Both votes passed 5-0.
Separately, the court set the permitted spending limit for outgoing officials: the county clerk’s and county judge’s spending limits were set at 25% of the next year’s budget for the first three months of the new term (2027), consistent with the statutory procedure discussed in the meeting. Both motions passed by voice vote, 5-0. The court recessed later to an executive session to deliberate contracts being negotiated and set a reconvene time.
All items were approved unanimously, and staff will carry out the routine implementation steps for the replat, advertising the fuel bid and adjusting clerk/judge authority for the transition period.
