Raymore proclaims 'Todd Kras Day' and declares April 20–28 the 7 Days of Kindness week

Mayor Christopher P. Turnbull presented two proclamations at the March 9 meeting: one honoring Todd Kras for his ‘‘more than 40 years to exemplary service in health care’’ and declaring March 9, 2026 as Todd Kras Day in Raymore, and a second proclaiming April 20–28, 2026 as 7 Days of Kindness in the city.

The mayor read biographical details in the proclamation, noting Kras' leadership at Belton Regional Medical Center and the hospital's affiliation with the HCA Midwest Health Network. Mayor Turnbull said the proclamation recognizes Kras' "extraordinary dedication and lasting impact." After the proclamation, Kras addressed the council: "It's been an honor to lead Belton Regional Medical Center," he said, and thanked staff and the community for the teamwork that he credited for improvements at the hospital.

The council also presented a proclamation for 7 Days of Kindness. Kelly Murphy, identified in the meeting as executive director for the organization, described the program's school outreach and community events, noted a student art competition (with a $500 prize) and scholarships ($1,000 awards) given to high school seniors, and said the group's Kindness Youth Leadership Team includes about 50 students from 27 area schools. "As the executive director, I'm really honored and privileged to be here and be in this role," Murphy said, and invited Raymore residents to participate in the April events.

The proclamations drew council members' thanks for Kras's leadership and appreciation for 7 Days' community programming. The city invited residents and organizations to engage with the scheduled events and to support the program's outreach in area schools.
