Wilmington Tree Commission sets 2026 meeting calendar, re-elects Tom Boland as chair

The Wilmington Tree Commission voted on Nov. 19 to hold its regular 2026 meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., excluding July and December.

The schedule change followed a discussion of member availability across proposed days and times; Rhonda Waterhouse moved the calendar change, a colleague seconded it and members approved the switch by voice vote. The Commission's chair, Tom Boland, described the decision as intended to reduce conflicts with other civic meetings and make attendance easier for members.

Commissioners also approved the previous meeting's minutes earlier in the session (motion by "Terry," second by "Janine," approved by voice vote). In officer elections held later in the meeting, Boland was re-nominated and confirmed for another one-year term as chair; Bridget Callahan was nominated and elected vice chair by voice vote.

The Commission's actions set the regular meeting cadence for 2026 and leave scheduling exceptions for months when members traditionally do not meet. The body said it will circulate the final 2026 calendar to members and city staff and noted its next regular meeting will occur on the newly adopted schedule in January.
