Lexington City planning commission approves minutes, postpones several zoning items to March

The Lexington City Planning Commission approved the minutes from its Jan. 29, 2026 meeting and unanimously postponed several zoning items to March meeting dates at the applicants’ requests.
Nick Nicholson, representing Ball Homes, asked the commission to postpone PLN MAR-25-15 for one month to the March 26 meeting, saying the applicant is still working through topographical issues and will return the plan to committee review once a solution is ready. "We are still working through topographical issues... once we do finally get a plan, I think we're gonna run it back through committees," Nicholson said.
Mr. Wilson moved to postpone the Ball Homes item to March 26; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Judy Worth and carried unanimously.
Lauren Nichols of Dentons requested a two-week postponement for the Ken Literal map amendment and the Clean Sweep car wash item after the projects missed the technical review committee due to a snowstorm. Nichols said the application did appear before technical review on the following day and asked that both items be moved to the March 12 meeting. "We were not able to get in front of technical review committee because of the snowstorm. We have been in front of technical review committee at this point," Nichols said.
Mr. Forrester moved to postpone PLN MAR-26-1 and PLN MJDP-26-3 for two weeks; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously, placing both items on the March 12 agenda.
Nichols also asked for an additional one-month postponement for the Cowgill development (PLN ZOTA 24-6) to allow staff and stakeholders to finalize language and secure shareholder agreement. Commissioner Jonathan Davis moved to postpone that item to March 26; Commissioner Molly Davis seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
The commission announced its next meeting for Thursday, March 5, at the Phoenix Building, third floor. The chair adjourned the meeting by unanimous consent.
