Council approves initiation of Winchester Road corridor study to examine safety, connectivity and growth

Councilmember Sheehan asked Director Duncan to brief the body on a new business item: the Winchester Road corridor study. Duncan said the corridor, spanning from Midland Avenue to the Greenbrier neighborhood, contains varied land uses and would be examined for safety (Vision Zero), mobility, access and opportunities for infill housing and connectivity improvements.
Duncan said the study is expected to begin in March and run about 16 to 18 months, and it will include community engagement. Council voted in favor of the motion to approve the study as part of new business.
Councilmembers asked that the study incorporate Complete Streets and Vision Zero principles, and Sheehan requested timely notice of public engagement opportunities so council members can share them with residents.
