Applicant: geotech found no sinkhole for Veil Homes rezoning; staff recommends postponement to allow filings

Charlotte McCoy, representing Dailey Homes, told the Lexington Federal Government's Planning Commission Zoning Committee on Jan. 8 that a geotechnical report returned the previous day showed "no evidence of any kind of a sinkhole or issue with the lot." She said Dailey Homes held a neighborhood outreach meeting in November and would file the GeoTech report into the record.

Daniel, a staff member, told the committee that several agenda items remained postponed, including one involving Legacy Trail LLC, and that for the Veil Homes/Dailey application staff's recommendation was postponement. Daniel said the applicant has until the end of the month to provide new information and that the primary outstanding threshold was how to address geotechnical findings in the application materials.

A committee member asked McCoy to describe the community feedback from the November meeting. McCoy said the meeting was "robust" and lasted a couple of hours, that the project team answered many questions and that "a number of people" had opposed having a project in their area. McCoy also noted Jeremy Young attended the outreach meeting with the team.

Mr. Wilson, a committee member, emphasized the importance of community participation and asked whether additional meetings were planned; neither McCoy nor staff said additional neighborhood meetings were scheduled at that time.

No formal motion or vote on the Veil Homes rezoning was recorded in the transcript. After the applicant update and brief questions, the chair thanked the applicant and staff and adjourned the meeting.
