CCSD staff introduced Theodore Robinson III, who said he recently moved to Henderson and formerly served in Colorado. The district presented data and school-level recognitions, noting increases in star ratings at multiple elementary and middle schools, gains in English language learner exits and a 97 percent graduation rate reported for Basic Academy.
The report summarized a notice of noncompliance the district received Nov. 25, 2024, and subsequent work with the state compliance monitor to improve processes related to school plans of operation. Staff said the CAPER and other compliance efforts are ongoing and that municipal reports will provide further detail.
Council members praised the progress and asked staff to provide a list of schools showing improvements so council offices can share the good news with constituents. "I'd love to be able to just give them a phone call or the next time, we're talking to the community, we bring that up to say, hey, in this area, this is what's improved," one council member said.
CCSD representatives said they will take questions and continue partnership with the city on student safety and attendance initiatives.
The council did not take action on the presentation itself; it serves as an informational quarterly update from CCSD Region 3.
