House adopts resolution recognizing April 2026 as National Donate Life Month

The Oklahoma House of Representatives on the floor adopted House Resolution 1044, recognizing April 2026 as National Donate Life Month. Representative Cross White Hader read the resolution and asked members to approve it by unanimous consent, which the House granted without objection.

Cross White Hader opened the reading with a personal account about a family member who underwent a liver transplant after long-term liver failure, using the story to underscore organ donation’s lifesaving impact. "He has had liver failure for a very long time... a liver, You can cut it in half and it will grow back for both the donor and the recipient," Cross White Hader said, describing a living-donor transplant that succeeded and allowed the family to celebrate together.

The resolution requests recognition of the month as an opportunity to promote organ, eye and tissue donation and to increase public awareness of donation procedures and donor registration. The resolution text was presented on the floor by the clerk and then moved for adoption; Representative Cross White Hader requested unanimous consent that the resolution be adopted, and the Speaker declared adoption "without objection."
