The American Fork City Council on March 10 administered the oath of office to two newly hired police officers during the public portion of the meeting.
Mayor led the swearing-in ceremony for David Gonzales and Brandon Mason. After each oath, the mayor and attendees congratulated the officers and took photographs; the mayor invited the officers and their guests to a reception at the police department. "Thank you for being here," the mayor said, and noted there was food waiting at the PD.
City Administrator also praised the new hires, saying the department hires "the very best" and appreciating the chief and team's vetting work. "They're great people," the city administrator said.
The mayor also reminded attendees that the proceedings are part of a public record and that the written transcript and video will be posted as a permanent public record.
The swearing-in was ceremonial; no policy decisions were attached to the hiring at the March 10 session.
