Board conditionally approves electrician’s license after incomplete financial statement

The Board of Examiners of Contractors met and conditionally approved the application of Aguilar Electrical Services LLC for an electrical contractor license after staff said the applicant’s financial statement was incomplete.

Staff member (S3) told the board the application for Hector Aguilar lacked a date on its financial statement and that the total assets did not match total liabilities and net worth. "The applicant was contacted on February 18 through email and was advised to make the corrections and upload a revised report. The applicant has failed to do so," S3 said, and recommended either tabling the file to allow Aguilar to appear in person or approving the application with a condition that the corrected financial statement be provided before license issuance.

Committee member (S2) moved to approve the application on the condition that the applicant submit a complete, dated financial statement that reconciles assets and liabilities before the license is issued. S2 said the applicant should be given until the next board meeting to supply the corrected documents. The board conducted a roll-call vote and recorded three affirmative responses, approving the conditional motion.

The meeting also included a consent approval for application 9A: staff recommended (S3) approval of an application listed in the record as "Nicholas Howell" for F and H Services LLC as a registered building contractor; the board treated that item as a consent matter and recorded the affirmative responses during roll call.

The board discussed process timing: staff noted the governing ordinance is not explicit about a strict deadline for incomplete applications and that an applicant denied has appeal rights or may reapply after six months. The board agreed to provide the applicant until the next meeting to submit a corrected financial statement, after which staff will update the board or the application will be denied if deficiencies remain.
