The Huntersville town board on March 17 approved a preliminary services contract with Edifice LLC to begin design work on Fire Station Number 5, appropriated $1,250,000 from the general fund balance to begin site plan and design work, and adopted a reimbursement resolution allowing the town to use those funds now and be reimbursed after debt issuance.
Miss Loop (project staff) said the town solicited qualifications from design-build teams and that Edifice LLC will perform initial design and construction services as the first of two contracts for the project. Finance staff (Miss McGinnis) explained the appropriation request: "What we want to do here is appropriate fund balance for $1,250,000 so we can start on the site plan and the design," she said.
The board approved the preliminary services contract and the appropriation by unanimous votes. The board also approved a reimbursement resolution that will allow the town to later reimburse itself for any funds spent from the general fund when a debt issuance for the station occurs.
