A commission member read the proclamation into the record, citing McClain’s tenure, academic background and public-service work, and naming Mayor Mike Palazzola as the official recognizing him.
The proclamation, read aloud by a commission member, said McClain served as assistant city attorney for Germantown from 1981 to 2025 and listed degrees from Rhodes College and Princeton University as well as a Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. It noted professional honors including inclusion on lists of Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers.
Responding to the recognition, Robert A. McClain thanked the commission and reflected on the relationships and learning that accompanied his work. “You meet lots of really interesting people and you learn a lot,” McClain said, adding that the friendships formed through public service have been particularly meaningful. A commission member closed the tribute with, “Congratulations, Bob, for time well spent.”
No formal action or vote beyond the reading and acceptance of the proclamation was recorded; after the remarks the commission proceeded to its consent agenda and other routine business.
