The Pine County Board approved a slate of personnel recommendations from the personnel committee that included acknowledging retirements, approving recruitment and backfills, and reclassifying positions to reflect changed supervisory reporting and duties.
The personnel committee presenter (speaker 8) described several actions: acknowledging the retirement of property appraiser Karen Stomedy effective May 6, 2026 and approving backfill; updating auditor-treasurer supervisory reporting and job descriptions; reclassifying an HHS office support specialist to increase capacity; and regrading the deputy environmental services manager from a grade 11 to a grade 10 because the position did not meet the supervisory definition under Minnesota statute. "Regrading the position from a grade 11 to a grade 10 will result in cost savings of approximately $3,786 annually and no change to the current headcount," the presenter said.
Board members discussed training timelines, recruitment planning and the need to anticipate upcoming leaves and retirements. The board moved, seconded and approved the personnel committee recommendations by roll call.
Next steps: HR was authorized to execute a memorandum of agreement for bargaining-unit inclusion where applicable and to proceed with recruitment and classification updates noted in the recommendations.
