The presenter said the additional funds would support building HVAC improvements, new equipment for the police department and a small employee pay increase. "It is an increase overall of almost 1000000 dollars. We are spending more out of reserves," the presenter said.
Council members were asked to review the draft and return any corrections within three weeks; the board plans to vote on the budget at its next regular meeting. The presenter invited aldermen to contact city staff with questions in the interim.
In the same segment, staff reported bids had been received from Mid Central, Nelson and R.E. Smith for unspecified repair work, with two pricing options per contractor (city‑supplied materials or contractor‑supplied materials). A stormwater project on West Briar Brook was described as substantially complete, with one additional repair estimated at about $8,900 that would be charged to city funds.
No formal budget vote occurred at the meeting; the draft will return to the board for approval at a future session after review.
