"She comes to us with a license and background in Head Start, has been a teacher, moved to the community last year at some point, and I think she'll do really, really well, really amazing things," the Committee member said. The Committee member explained the role will begin at roughly 17 hours per week while health and scheduling concerns are addressed and will scale up as the student's day expands.
The Chair called for a motion to approve the hire; board members were polled and several answered "yes," and the hire was approved. The Chair also noted the board could have moved into closed session if there were confidential questions, but no closed session was taken.
Next steps: district staff will finalize the hire and coordinate staged increases in hours with the student's family and the special education team.
